Club History – Lithgow Workmen’s Valley Women’s Bowling Club

 

Lithgow Women’s Valley Women’s Bowling Club – First Meeting

 

The first meeting was held in the C.W.A rooms in John St., Lithgow on 21st August, 1967 at 7.30pm. The meeting was held with the object of forming a proposed second Women’s Bowling Club in Lithgow called by the organiser, Mrs. Josie Taylor .

 

Mrs. Vi Allan, President of Lithgow City Women’s Bowling Club accepted the chair and wished the club every success. Also in attendance was Mrs. Merle Bradley, Secretary of LCWBC and also Vice President of Western District Bowling Association Mrs. Gwen Haddon.

 

The name of the club to be Lithgow Valley Women’s Bowling Club and the club badge be the Zig Zag Railway.

 

The Club was affiliated with Women’s Bowls NSW on 28th September, 1967.

 

Renaming of the Club:  This was necessary to come into line with the Constitution of the Club Limited on 17th March, 1999 at a special meeting of members it was agreed to rename the Club the Lithgow Workmen’s Valley Women’s Bowling Club.  The Valley was left in the name so the Club would not lose its identity with the previous thirty years.
